Organizers of Fajr International Film Festival announce titles of the seven international films to be screened during the event's Classics Preserved section.

Organizers of Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) have announced titles of the seven international films in the Classics Preserved section.

Seven restored classic hits from world cinema are scheduled to be screened in the Classics Preserved section of the 36th FIFF in Tehran, organizers announced recently.

Among the titles include Hong Kong and Taiwan venture 'A Touch of Zen', a 1971 film which won the Technical Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 1975.

Another film is Japan's 1953 flick 'Gate of Hell', directed by Teinosuke Kinugasa. It recounts the story of a samurai who tries to marry a woman he rescues, only to discover that she is married.

France's 'The Rise and Fall of a Small Film Company' by French director Jean-Luc Godard has also been selected.

Russian director Karen Shakhnazarov’s 1991 political drama 'The Assassin of the Tsar' will also be screened at the 36th FIFF.

Films also to be screened include 'Picnic at Hanging Rock' by Australian director Peter Weir, 'Adele Hasn’t Had Her Dinner Yet' by Czech director Oldrich Lipsky and 'A Generation' by Polish filmmaker Andrzej Wajda.

The 36th edition of the Fajr International Film Festival will be held in the Iranian capital city of Tehran on April 19-27, 2018.
